Posted: February 5, 2010

In preparation for the upcoming Golden Gloves tourneys, the American Athletic Association / Greater Bay Boxing Center is hosting its annual “Winter Fight Night” next week.

An exciting February 13 amateur card will serve as a dust-off as the Bay City fighters take on boxers from across the state before they compete in the Eastern Michigan Golden Gloves tournament scheduled for mid-March. Fighters from the west side of the state will be preparing for their own tournament, the Western Michigan Golden Gloves, to be held the same month while Detroit-area fighters compete in a separate tournament in April.

Headlining next week’s event will be a 201+ bout between the host club’s Matt Maciag and Detroiter Juan Goode. Former national Golden Gloves champ Ernie Garza and Muskegon’s Raeese Aleem will also be highlighted.

Other fights scheduled include:

Andy Ramerez 250# vs Tom Brayton (Traverse City)
Jeff Martin 165# vs Arthur Buggs (Pontiac)
Merrill Martinez 125# vs Vincent Jennings (Muskegon)
David Middleton 145 # vs Nick Fuller (Saginaw)
Jesse Verela 125# vs Ricco O’Quinn (Detroit)
