He
trained and trained for his second professional fight. It was supposed
to take place four months earlier but it got put off for one reason
and then another. Then just as suddenly as other fights were cancelled,
Dolton got signed for a fight this past Saturday.
Domonique
Dolton’s second appearance in the ring came this past weekend,
reportedly with just two days notice, not here in Michigan but in
neighboring Ohio. On Saturday, the 18-year old Kronk Gym fighter
faced David Foster (4-22-2, 3 KO) in a super middleweight bout on
the Lamon Brewster-Danny Batchelder undercard at Cincinnati Gardens.
Brewster’s Relentless Promotions promoted the 8-fight card.
Dolton
(2-0-0, 2 KO) won over the 43-year old Cincinnati native by way
of TKO coming at 2:13 in the first round of a scheduled four rounder,
after putting the more experienced fighter to the canvas twice.
For Foster, it was his first fight in eight years and his fourth
straight loss. Thanks to the hard-hitting Dolton, it was also the
shortest fight of Foster’s last 21 ring appearances.
Dolton’s
debut came on April 4 in what was billed as the first of monthly
Pro-Am cards at Detroit’s Bert’s Warehouse Theatre.
His expected second fight on the May card was cancelled after his
opponent reportedly became injured and cancelled. The entire pro
portion of the card in June was cancelled again delaying Dolton’s
second fight. As recently as two weeks ago, plans for a September
fight in Ohio were in the works. Advance word of Dolton’s
Saturday fight was not received. Word came today by way of Dolton’s
fellow Kronk fighters Leandre White and J’Leon Love, both
of whom attended the fight as did Johnathon Banks.
Also
on the card, Kronk-trained Aaron Pryor, Jr (11-0-0, 8 KO) won a
third-round TKO over fellow Cincinnati-native and 2000 Olympian
Dante Craig (17-8-1, 13 KO). Craig fought at 147-lbs in the 2000
Summer games in Sydney, losing in the second round, and turning
pro half-a-year later.
