Crown
Boxers Win Title Tournament
Posted: August 3, 2008
Lansing’s
Crown Boxing returned home with two new national champs from a Title
amateur tournament that took place in early June, which Sportssummary
just became aware of.
The
tournament, believed to be in its first or second year of existence,
was sponsored by Title, makers of boxing equipment on a somewhat
lesser scale than Ringside or Everlast, and held June 5-7 in Memphis,
Tennessee at the home of the Midsouth Fairgrounds. Title failed
to respond to repeated requests for information on the tournament
but Sportssummary was able to obtain the results from another source.
Two
Crown fighters won gold while five more came up short.
Novice
boxers Shaquille Clark (11-12 years, 112-lbs) and Aarkeyse Higdon
(13-14 years, 80-lbs) brought home the gold. Clark won a UD over
Trey Murry of Georgia and Higdon won a 2-1 decision over Louisiana’s
Johnny West.
Crown
open class fighters Angelo Flores, Jaquil Short and Brandon Larvadain
and novice fighters Devin Young and James Mitchell competed and
lost. Dynamic’s Kevin Moore and Gallo’s Joe Bermudez
also came up short in the novice and open classes, respectively.
