The
Dearborn Heights welterweight won a 9-6 decision at the USA v Dominican
Republic Duel held May 31 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, despite Love's
loss of a point in the third round.
The
USA v Dominican Republic competition was the fourth duel held this
year and the first to include a boxer from Michigan. Other duels
pitted American boxers against teams from such countries as Mexico
and Puerto Rico.
Other
USA winners included Daniel O'Connor, Anthony Campbell, Chris Downs,
Kimdo Bethel and 2008 Olympians Deontay Wilder and Rau'Shee Warren
to win the team award for the U.S.
This
was Love’s second international competition. He competed in
the Golden Belt Tournament held in Romania last September.
