Paris Attacked Detroit light-welterweight Vernon "Iceman" Paris is reportedly hospitalized after being stabbed on Saturday, Sportssummary has learned. Early reports indicated that Paris suffered a collapsed lung and underwent surgery at Detroit's Henry Ford Hospital but attempts to confirm that information with hospital officials have been unsuccessful.
Two different versions of how Paris was assaulted were reported with the most likely version being that he was stabbed in the back by a female neighbor during a dispute, but persons in Paris' management and training camps either did not return calls or refused to comment. There is little doubt that those same persons will speak with the Freep's Mike Brudenell so readers should watch for a story in Monday's paper. Paris
is no stranger to violent assault. The 20-year old professional
boxer was shot several times on July 25, 2006 after apparently being
ambushed by several acquaintances on Detroit's northwest side. According
to police sources, Paris knew the identity of the shooter (s) but
did not cooperate and essentially no investigation was done. At
least one bullet still remains lodged in the young fighter's body.
The suspects in that incident were never arrested. |
