The 28-year old “Mighty Mike” sports a similar record as Tyner with 18 wins, nine by knockout, but with the burden of two recent losses and two draws that came in the first half of his pro career, which has spanned seven years. Born in Athens, Greece, the 5’10” southpaw now makes his home in Atlantic City, giving him the home town advantage. Tyner, 32, has been boxing for 3-1/2 years and relocated to Houston a year ago but still calls Detroit home.

The two boxers have something else in common besides similar records. Both fought, and won, ten rounders against a very busy Marteze “Too Sweet” Logan. Arnaoutis won a unanimous decision over the Tennessee fighter from Las Vegas judges three years ago while Tyner won by way of an 8th round TKO six months ago.

Tyner is hitting the gym twice a day to prepare for what may be his only shot at a significant – meaning, national or world – championship title. If he loses, that is. If he wins, and continues to win, he could get a shot at one of the first tier titles.

“I’m finally getting my shot,” Tyner excitedly told Sportssummary last weekend
