Day three in Colorado Springs came to an end along with the dreams of three Kronk fighters who lost in Tuesday's quarterfinals at the 2008 U.S. Nationals, or Future Stars Nationals, tournament.

Leandre White lost a 14-2 decision to Errol Spence of Desota, Texas in White's second fight of the week-long event; Latonya King lost 14-8 in her first fight to Raelene Pineda of San Bernardino, California and Craig Lewis was stopped in the third round of his second fight of the tournament by Lenexa, Kansas' Jeremiah Graziano.

The three Kronk fighters were among 62 of the country's elite amateurs whose dreams of winning National gold were quashed Tuesday. Two other Michigan fighters, Ryan Schmidt and Termaine Woodward were among 64 that lost in Monday's preliminary rounds. Fifteen additional fighters lost in early prelim action on Sunday.

Two NMU fighters, Jesse Carradine at 132-lbs and DeRae Crane at 178-lbs, both advanced after bouts Monday and Tuesday. Carradine won a 18-12 decision over California's Eric Altamirano and Crane won a close 14-11 victory over New York's Lionell Thompson.

A lone Michigan resident, Unity Boxing's Jorge Rosario, has yet to compete but is expected to Wednesday. Rosario, 16, won the state Jr. Olympic title in 2006 and the 2007 state Silver Gloves championship.

Preliminary action concludes tomorrow, with semi-finals to be contested Thursday and championship rounds on Friday.
